Oh, life has been so much better since I last blogged! I'm not even really sure why it's been better, but it was. Last Saturday, I took off to Charlottesville for an adventure with friends instead of staying cooped up in my room working on papers. It was amazing. I would spend the rest of my life in the car singing with my friends if I could. It was a blast. And just window-shopping was nice... I was broke, but it just felt good to look and see and make tabs on things I want once I get paid this week. And of course, just being with my lovely ladies makes everything better. The night before, we'd gone out for dessert and drinks to belatedly celebrate Lindsay's birthday, and that was fun, too :)
Of course, I've been paying the price for throwing my homework aside... this weekend I've been swamped, trying to build a great framework for my 4000 word paper. Now I just have to throw everything together by Thursday so I can turn it in and have chance to revise it before the real due date in early December. I'm so excited because it's a challenging topic, but I'm finding so much support for it (which is a good feeling when you think your idea is pretty out there). Needless to say, Monday - Wednesday afternoons are going to be stressful this week, but I know I can get it done.
I go to Longwood on Tuesday afternoon for my first meeting about Spain! I'm so stoked. I'm also scrambling to make sure I have all of my paperwork finished, and I still have a short essay to write, but it's all good. I still can't believe this is happening. Spain... seriously, SPAIN. I'm going to go teach in Spain. It's mind-blowing. I'm so grateful for my contact at Longwood- she's been so nice and answered all my questions and sent me everything I need and more. I just hope everyone else is as nice and patient as she is!
The ladies of my family are coming up to visit me next weekend: my mama, Aunties Sue and Lissa, my MegMeg, and of course, my Kaylee. It's going to be so much fun. I miss these ladies so much when I'm away. They really are the reason our family is so strong and resilient, and I hope that someday, I can be as patient, loving, and persevering as they are. Plus, we always have barrels of fun together :) I can't wait to show them around SBC. This really is my other home, and I feel like sharing it with them will bring us even closer. And let's not forget, whenever we all get together, there are always copious amounts of tasty food and side-splitting giggles involved.
Then NEXT WEEKEND, I get to go home for Thanksgiving! AHHHH! But before that, HP7 Part 1 at midnight!!!! I'm so stoked. It'll be me, Mary, Seanne, and Sierra, and we figure the movie will finish up around 3 AM, and then we have to have Sierra at the airport in Lynchburg around 5, so we're just going to chillax around Lynchburg for two hours. We figure there's IHOP, Sheetz, and Walmart open all night... we're good :) Then I'm going to come back to SBC, skip morning classes to get some sleep, then drive Mary and myself back to Ivor. Mary will spend the night with us, then we'll take her to Norfolk in the morning so she can catch a flight home and... surprise her father. I'm dying of excitement for this. He has no idea that she's coming home for Thanksgiving, so it'll be such a shock. I asked Mary to take pictures, because it's definitely going to be a moment to remember.
Anyway... now I have to get ready for a field trip! We're going to Staunton to the Blackfriars Theater to see The Taming of the Shrew. It's going to be so much fun!!! All I can think of is 10 Things I Hate About You, but hopefully this will get that preoccupation out of my mind. Then it's back here to work on my paper some more, then seeing Exit 245!!!
